Power BI App Update: Slicer Support Is Here!

Fugo avatar
Shared by Fugo • December 02, 2025

We’ve just added slicers to the Power BI app to give you more control over what’s displayed on your screens.

With slicers, you can filter your reports by things like year, category, region - or whatever data points you've configured - directly in the app. No need to adjust them in Power BI; just set the filters during configuration, and only the most relevant data will show up on screen.

It’s straightforward: after selecting a report & page, you’ll see the new Page Slicers toggles where you can toggle your filters on or off. Want to show just this year’s data for a specific region? Now you can, without any extra hassle.

New: Player Variables for smarter, dynamic content

Fugo avatar
Shared by Fugo • December 02, 2025

We’ve introduced Player Variables to give you more flexibility and control over your content. This feature allows you to assign unique variables—like store names, locations, or any custom data—to each screen in your network, making it easier to customize content dynamically without creating separate campaigns for every screen.

What can you do with Player Variables?

  • Dynamic web page URLs: Use variables to create screen-specific URLs in the Web Page app, so each screen displays the correct webpage or localized content.
  • Localized aessaging: Assign variables like storeName or location to automatically adapt your messaging for individual screens.
  • Centralized ypdates: Update variables in one place, and the changes will reflect across all relevant screens instantly.

How it works:

Image #1
Image #2
  1. Go to the new Variables tab in your screen settings to create and assign variables.
  2. Use these variables in apps like the Web Page app by referencing them in your URL or content setup.
  3. Publish once—your screens handle the rest dynamically.

Why it matters:

  • Save time: Manage localized content across multiple screens without duplication.
  • Stay consistent: Ensure your content reflects the right information for every screen, every time.
  • Scale faster: Perfect for large networks that need tailored content for each screen.

Ready to give it a try? Head to your screen settings and explore the Variables tab!

Screenshotting workaround for failing Power BI dashboards & reports

Fugo avatar
Shared by Fugo • December 02, 2025

If you’ve noticed your Power BI dashboards failing to load or not performing well on your screens lately, you're not alone. Microsoft recently increased browser requirements, meaning some devices with older browsers can’t properly display Power BI dashboards anymore.

To solve this, we've introduced a new screenshotting feature in our Power BI app. It allows Fugo to load your dashboard in a secure Cloud server and display it on your screen as a screenshot, bypassing browser limitations and ensuring your data appears correctly.

Who should use it?

If your device is struggling to load data-heavy dashboards, or if your player uses an outdated browser, the screenshotting feature will help bypass these issues and keep your dashboards visible and up-to-date.

You’ll find a toggle for this feature in your Power BI app settings in Fugo:

We hope this helps keep your dashboards running smoothly!

Display a casting link on your Fugo-connected screens

Fugo avatar

Since launching our Fugo casting feature last year, we've received great feedback on how it simplifies switching to presentation mode on Fugo-connected screens. But until now, only Fugo admins and users could enjoy this convenience, and others needed to log in with credentials first.

That changes today!

Now, your non-Fugo teammates and visitors can easily cast to your Fugo-connected screens using a special link displayed on screen.

You can set it up from the new Casting tab of your screen's dashboard:

Want to give it a try on your screens? Check out our handy guide to get started 👉 Screen Casting 101

Looking to share casting instructions with your wider team? Here’s a helpful guide tailored for non-Fugo users 👉 How To Cast To a Fugo Screen

Note

This feature is currently supported on Android, Windows, ChromeOS, and Tizen 6.5 & up. BrightSign users, hang tight—we're rolling it out to you soon! 👀

For the best casting experience, make sure your device runs Chromium version 83 or higher. If your screen's browser is a bit outdated, no worries! A Chromecast with Google TV or an Android box can give it a quick, affordable boost. Check out our recommended devices here.

Casting is a premium feature, so yo'll need to be on or upgrade to a Core or Enterprise plan to use it.

Hardware news: run Fugo on your Rasbperry Pi 5!

Fugo avatar
Shared by Fugo • December 02, 2025
Image #1

Fugo is now fully supported on Raspberry Pi 5, making us the first digital signage software provider to achieve this milestone 💪

Released at the end of 2023, the Raspberry Pi 5 brings substantial improvements over its predecessor:

  • New CPU (runs at a higher clock speed)
  • New GPU (for video playback)
  • Newer generation of RAM
  • Updated SD card slot
  • Upgraded Wi-Fi module (runs the same, but is twice as fast)

If you want to learn more, we did a full review of the Raspberry Pi 5 here.

So what does this mean for digital signage using Raspberry Pi?

Simply put, the upgraded hardware means the RPi5 will be able to handle larger and longer content more easily (think better rendering of videos and dashboards.)

In response these upgrades in the Pi hardware & OS, we've refined our app and improved the pairing process for Raspberry Pi devices. Here's what's new:

  • Expanded device support: We now fully support Raspberry Pi CM4 and Raspberry Pi 5, alongside legacy models such as Raspberry Pi 3 Model A+, B+, and B (though we don’t recommend those)
  • Offline playback: We now support offline playback of media and some apps on Raspberry Pis
  • Updated Chromium version: We've upgraded to Chromium version 125 to deliver improved performance and reliability for your content
  • Simplified Wi-Fi setup: Our updated Wi-Fi pairing process features a more intuitive interface, enabling easier network management and configuration changes directly from your device.
  • Extended file type support: We now support all file types of images (JPEG, JPEG 2000, PNG, WebP, SVG, GIF), videos (MP4, MPG, MPEG, MOV, AVI), audio (MP3), and documents (PDF).

Overall these are significant upgrades and we look forward to seeing you roll Fugo out on your new Raspberry Pi devices!

Check out our installation guide if you've got a Raspberry Pi you want to test or use Fugo on 👉 https://www.fugo.ai/fugo/en/articles/5842665-how-to-install-fugo-on-raspberry-pi

If you’ll be deploying a project on RPis soon, let us know! Your feedback means the 🌍 to us!
